i'll use your name. sweet nothings spill
from well-meaning mouths & shatter on concrete radiating summer sun
right back at you, perfect -- dainty -- shiny with dewdrops. they told me
show not tell, now i struggle to not make everything an adverb -- a simile --
metaphors without end or meaning. i suppose i'll pick up the pen
& try it at least, red no rough no yellowish no blemished no beautiful
why is this so hard? they told me adjectives make the world go round
perhaps you've got some other sphere-ifying method, perhaps writing
prompts are simply meant to be followed not
philosophized upon. here, try some -- sweet nothings & all these describing
words taste like honeycrisp & a september i thought i'd forgotten.
ugh, i'll just use your name.
