Bad Breath

She is not really gone

She is right here

She is not really lost

She's only at college

becoming a

a sister that I do not know

a girl beyond creation

Older, maybe not wiser

coked up and coked out

High and dry and nicotine

coating her lungs

she offered me some, I pushed her away

She is high and leaving me dry

"Why're you so mean?"

She asks

I can't not be to her anymore

Not anymore because

She's ruining my lungs too,

I live here

We share the same air

The coughing gets me too,

the headaches and the smell

of whatever artificial flavor she wants that day

It starts burning when I'm too close too long

Leave me in a smoothie shop

at ten o' clock pm

to get another hit

off your gross little pen

A long lost sister

standing right beside me

poisoning my permanent breath

for her temporary buzz

I guess I'll breathe

again

when she leaves

again

Posted in response to the challenge Sister.
