The Ballet

The melody begins, softly and small,

Rhythmic and sweetly it asks for a dance.

Gracefully she moves like leaves in the fall,

Her passion is fueled by wild romance.

The audience smiles for they do not know,

The reason she’s here, why she didn’t go.

Her love is a memory, heart aglow,

But her mind advises her no no no.

Then emotion engulfs her, sorrow reigns,

She loses her balance skill falls away,

Pain making her feel her feet are mere flames,

It is then that she knows no one will stay.

All is quiet as she lies on the stage,

Her heart is now broken, her mind in a daze.

curling until they turn to infinite spirals

leading to darkness I couldn't see the end of if I tried.
