Blind Justice

Close your eyes

Spin around

And point

Choose the felon

Choose the victim

Watch the tears fall

In joy

Gratefullness

Or

In sadness

Pain

Shrug

Because to you

It doesn’t matter

A day of work is finished

Tell that to the victim in cuffs

Or the victim with loosened shoulders

Tell that to the felon with freedom

Or the felon in the holding cell

The choice that’s made

In the dark

With your eyes closed

It can make or break

Someone

Not just their day

Or their week

But them

Their soul

Their heart

It’s putting a blindfold

On the scales of justice

Maybe adding a weight to one side

Or just letting it choose

In the dark

No true evidence

Just lies woven together

With fibs

Or the truth being covered up

By a blanket of fiction

Don’t close your eyes

Don’t spin and point

Don’t shrug and hope for the best

You’re not blind

Open your eyes

Look at what you’re doing

Don’t be blind

  • Do It For Her

If you can't do it for yourself

    Then do it for her

    Do it for the girl

    With big ideas

    And even bigger dreams

The girl who would try to count the stars

But then sigh and say there was a lot

  • ABC Heart poem

I'm not sure how I feel about this poem, I don't think it's really good but I really wanted to participate in this challenge. :)

    All times my heart has

    Broken into pieces
