Bright Spots

Bright spots:

The kid who gave me twizzlers

an hour after we really met

just because I'm a sorta-friend of a sorta-friend.

The video on my phone

you don't know I took

of you playing piano and singing

that I want to remember forever.

When he gives me fist bumps before races

"Good luck?"

"Good luck."

My old friend who doesn't hesitate

to be my partner in gym

even though we don't sit together at lunch.

When I see someone smile

and I'm pretty sure they're pretty sure

that no one saw.

The way the frost crunches on your feet

and the tips of everything

are crystal white.

I'll write out all the bright spots

and hope they warm up my dark days.

The red truck blue truck cap

    Bright blue, not pretty

    Like dancing eyes no

This is down to business blue eyes hardened

After too many people said no

After too many yesses didn’t work out

  • She Used To Come

It was like your second cousin,

    the one who stopped coming

    to Thanksgiving

    most of the time

    but shows up sometimes

    and you remember a picture

    of her holding baby you

with blond curls and energy always
