The Colors of the World

The Colors make up everything we see,
the sky, so blue, the flowers, and the green green grass and trees,
colors are so beautiful,
so why can't we see,
that you, me, all of us,
black, brown, white, are just colors-
all beautiful, not one without the other,
the colors are in harmony, so why, why aren't we?
If I could color the world, I'd color it a rainbow-
a spectrum, a blend of beauty,
not one higher than the other-
just us, me, my sisters and my brothers.

  • Flurry

    My heart breaks

    For every snowflake

    That twirls down,

    Solitary

    Amongst a gray sky

    It looks lonely, you see

Not as if I don’t know how that feels.

  • Fallen Tree

A tree is downed in the forest

It appears as a skeletal hand resting upon the snow covered floor

Brown beneath, like ivory rotting away as it ages

And pure white on top, bone bleached by the sun.

  • Small Things

I’ve started looking forward to the little things a little more

Than I look forward to next year

Because it feels like next year is uncertain.

I’m excited to eat peanut butter toast in the car before skiing,
