Middle school is a horrible place

Many watch themselves

Compare to others

Lie to fit in

No one wants to be the only one

No one wants to stand out 

No one wants to do the right thing

Because no one else is doing it either

Most judge others behind their backs

Everyone wants to feel superior inside

Seem superior to others

But in turn doesn’t want to show off

Doesn’t want to give anyone a reason to talk about them

People shield themselves

But me, my shield is almost gone

Sometimes it’s too much

You feel every crack, but you don’t show it

Hurtful remarks slice your protection

You wonder if you have been hurtful to others

Which makes you hurt more

And all of this

Is added to mountains of schoolwork you don’t understand.
