Crow Queen part 9: stupid

"Caw caw. Stupid girl, we're hungry, feed us." The crows demand.

"Not now, I'm tired and need to practice my magic." I lay motionless on the dewy grass.

"STOP. Do not mention that poisoned word." The crows cried out, swarming me.

"Please, leave me alone! I'll burn you wretched things! Every last one of you!"

But they didn't stop. The cuts tore through my pretty clothes and left bald patches.

I'd had enough.

    I feel like I'm imposing

Which isn't fair for you to do,

It's not fair that you make me feel like I'm on the outside

I hate sitting here, trying to reignite what once was

I thought we we're doing this anymore

  • unkept (wo)man

    subjugated to solitude eternal,

    only perceiving and watching love,

maybe receiving it but never understanding it

    never internalizing it

    it bounces off. Doesn't stick,

    unkept and unruly and unclean.
