Darkness

Standing in the streets,
The darkness of the city lights
Washes over you.

The joy of the summer fades,
The sorrow of the fall is a current feeling.
Yet deep in your heart you know it changes.

How do the days go by this fast?
The years drift by like seconds,
You haven't heard his voice in years.
But you still remember it.

Hold all of your greatest memories in your heart,
With your sorrows and strengths.

And at the end of the season,
I'll wait for you in the street again.
In a city full of darkness,
I'm always ready for the light.

  • The dog at the end

There’s a dog that sits on the end of my street—

he barks at anyone that nears,

snarling teeth that glow shiny in the afternoon light.

  • I am not

    I am not a poet
I don’t know how to use my words the way they can
I can’t captivate the minds of my friends by stringing them along with the simplest of words

    I am not a musician
