Dear Younger Me

Dear Younger Me,

I don’t have some wise advice

Although I suppose I’m supposed to

I don’t

There isn’t a grand password

That unlocks the answers to all the questions

That haunt you as you try to fall asleep

There is no piece of information

That lifts weight off your shoulders

And weakens the anxiety that sits in your head

The thing is

You won’t find this answer

To all your questions

Or the solution

To all your issues

They’re a part you

Always will be

They’re part of me

Always have been

I think that everyone has

A piece of themselves

That they haven’t quite learned to love

They have learned to hate it

To hide it

To wish it never existed

And I know that

For I

For you

Do the same thing

But I also think

That learning to accept

All those parts

Is more valuable

Then continuing to hate them

But what would I know

As I am only a taller version of you

At the core though

We are the same

So although I don’t have some wise advice

Or the answers to all the questions that haunts our heads at night

Or advice that would lift the weight off our shoulders

I can tell you

That being you

Or being me

Is a thing

No one else will get to experience

And you should learn to enjoy the experience

As much as you can

Because we only have one chance

And it’s too short to waste it
