You might want to be a fly on the wall,

Discover what people really think,

What people say when you’re not around.

You don’t want to be a bug on the windshield,

Crushed and splattered, you’re insides available for all to see,

An annoyance to a stranger you’ll never get the chance to know.

But what’s so different between the two?

You’re an insect on the surface,

One visible and one not,

It’s just where you are that decides if people notice.

They senselessly move forward, they kill you,

But now you are a pest covering their shield.

It’s different on the wall, they don’t spare you a thought,

You’re not there, you have never even lived.

One of these was wanted, one was not.

But one isn’t better, one isn’t worse,

Don’t you think the wall would be just as much of a curse.

  • nostalgia

I want to go back to that simpler time,

Where we ran through fields and played in dirt,

When we had an abundance of freedom, a million open moments,

  • burning

Burned at the stake for all to see.

Boo! Scream the crowds, words full of glee.

Smiles lit up the kids faces as they stared at me,

While the witches cried out for a flicker of mercy.
