writing makes it real
I sat down to write a poem about politics,
About how our country is tearing itself apart,
About how we’ve tried to glue pieces back together,
About how somehow it’s already been a year.

to procrastinate past a deadline
Everyone is booing,
Hi, how are you failing?
At everything you do.
Are you absolutely insane,
Why are you just constantly not doing your work?

Twisted Tangled Thoughts
You lived in a tower all your life,
Not knowing you were trapped,
Unaware of the chains that were woven into your mind.
How they kept you shackled,

nostalgia
I want to go back to that simpler time,
Where we ran through fields and played in dirt,
When we had an abundance of freedom, a million open moments,
-
a choice of color
When you were a kid,
When you were still learning animal names,
And awed by the world around you,
What did it mean when you looked up,
At other kids, at adults,
-
burning
Burned at the stake for all to see.
Boo! Scream the crowds, words full of glee.
Smiles lit up the kids faces as they stared at me,
While the witches cried out for a flicker of mercy.

Stand Together
We’re tearing ourselves apart;

Where There’s No Cursive
It’s not the slashes through the timeline,
Not the practiced cursive
Spelling out names
That we must all know.
It’s the blank in between -
melting point
Shoot all the bullets your cold visions desire,
shoot your anger away
to reel in the reputation you'll live with
until you die.

Dear, Venezuela/Greenland
Dear, Venezuela and Greenland,
A couple months ago I wrote
A poem apologizing to Canada,
And saying that they DO NOT
Belong to us.
I’m deeply angered,
Saddened,
And heartbroken

Hold your Tongue
They say it's for the civilians
when they kidnap citizens.
What they mean is
"For civilians like us."
They tell us to be civil
