Done with Fairytales: scene four

They all looked at each other Iker was getting cocky for her discovery.

Ezra packed her spray paints already, and her black gloves had teal and pink stains.

Iker pulled out Neo’s small notebook and handed it to him. “Thought it’d be a bad idea to leave this” she said Neo took it gratefully with a faint pink on his cheeks.

Parker turned absolutely shocked “are we just gonna ignore the floating father?”

Hunter nodded passive aggressively “yeah, why wouldn’t we?” He said sarcastically, but mostly panicked.

Neo sighed “maybe we’ve all had something bad to eat, or we breathed in too much fumes from the paint. Hallucinations, right?”

Iker turned, her dirty blonde curly hair sticking out from underneath her Oxford-gray colored beanie her blue eyes almost the same color.

“No way! We got it on video too!” She reminded than swiped dirt off her black thumbhole hoodie with purple stains with her hand.

As much as Neo wanted to say she was right— he didn’t want to believe.

“I’m heading home, maybe we’ve all just need one large sleep.”

They all went home hesitantly

Neo kicked a rock “flying father? Tch no way, at this rate I’ll be home for dinner—“ he opened the door and his mother was sobbing at the table, tissues everywhere “what’s wrong mum?” He asked going to her side worriedly.

She gasped eyes wide then threw her arms around him “you’ve been gone so long!” She sobbed “where have you been?!”

“I’ve only been gone for like ten minutes with my friends—“

“You and your friends have been gone for a year” she cried as she hugged him tightly.

“W-what?”

Her eyes widened “you— said ten minutes… right?” She asked tears pausing.

He nodded

She nodded “and your friends?”

“Probably freaking out too” Neo said “what’s even the matter! I made it back before dinner—“

“On November of 2027!” She cried

“Twenty-twenty—“ he was stunned. Absolutely shocked, still, numb as his mother hugged him and turned him around to look at his face that hadn’t changed a day, not like hers.

The date hit him harder than the crying.

“I don’t understand” Neo said, still processing what was going on.

“You’re turning into your father that’s what!” She cried “and you’re taking those kids with you!” She sobbed louder

Neo stiffened  “w-what?”

She sniffled.

Knowing little Neo wouldn’t understand until she explained it.

“When I was sixteen, I met a mad by the sea that man was—“

“My father?” He deadpanned

She nodded.

“Well I didn’t know this— but he was… special? I’ll say”

“What?”

She turned “one moment”

He watched her open a drawer from the middle of the round wooden table.

She pulled out a really dusty book. One that he hadn’t read as a child.

She blew it off and a title painted with gold appeared “The Prince and His One True Love”

“Really mom” Neo said raising a brow. But took the book.

Years ago, the Prince of Everything Everywhere All at Once was a boy.

He had to do some things on earth leaving his sky castle.

He stayed on earth where time was very different, with his now found wife he had met at the beach when he arrived.

They bore a child, a little boy, a future prince of the castle.

Because of the father’s mistakes the son will be taken up here when the time has come.

First time will slow for him, but speed up for everyone else.

Just like it is in the clouds.

Ten minutes will feel like a year.

An hour feels like years.

Neo stopped reading “what this rubbish? And where’d you get this? It’s completely false!” He said, hoping his words would come true “clouds? You can’t walk on clouds”

She nodded “the normal person can’t— but you and your father— can.”

He blinked “no— tha—that’s not possible.” He stammered backing up to the door, book still in hands.

“It is, son. Keep reading, I beg of you.” She pleaded

Neo ran out the door fast as his feet could carry him, he’d go and get his group of friends and they could figure out the book of lies together

“You need to know what comes next”

he heard his mother whisper— though she was far away, and not to mention, inside. And that scared him all the more.
