Ten years later. present day November 6th 2026
Neo stepped into the kitchen, just turned thirteen. His mother was drinking her coffee, looking at the door.
“Mother, give up. Soon isn’t a time. It never was”
She smiled as the handle turned and in came his father.
“Woah Neo you got tall—“
“Shut it” Neo said angrily “you have no right to talk to me.”
“I’m your father—“
“No. I lost my dad. I dunno like what? Five years ago? How about ten? Yeah ten sounds right doesn’t it?”
“Neo, he’s trying his best—“ his mother was cut off
“Yeah, with his work.” Neo snarled “he wasn’t there when you were sick. I was. He wasn’t there when you broke your knee, I was. He’s nothing. What kind of father doesn’t even show up for his kid’s birthday? Or atleast send a card on the holidays. You’ll leave here soon anyways. So I’ll play your little games just for a bit” he turned to his father, same handsome face, hasn’t aged the ten years he was gone at all. Not like him. Or his mother.
“You missed your own mother’s funeral” Neo added sorrowfully. “The only ones holding her hands was me and mom. Where were you? She asked and asked for you” Neo snapped, tears welling in his eyes. “She loved you da— father.” He sobbed and his mother hobbled over, leg still mildly hurt.
She hugged him as he sobbed “where were you? She was your mother!” He cried
His father looked down. “If only you knew”
“Knew what? How long you’re gone? We’ve been waiting” he cried “I kept telling mom you’d be back soon! She’s so understanding with you— you monster! Leaving her. For ten years” his voice broke as he sobbed into his mother’s arms.
His father kept changing his footing, guilty. To him time barely passed. To him only about an hour passed.
He wanted to show his son. What he’s seen. Where he’s been. The celestial kingdom. Where only he could step foot. Where ten minutes was a year. He wanted to tell his son he was heir to the throne. In only a couple years. He would stay with his wife and little Neo would go to the clouds.
