dying bird

your wings are broken
so are mine
you run and jump and try to fly
while I just lay here and stare at the sky
the weather will change and down will pour the rain
but I don't care
I'm too tired to complain
you try to stay
to keep me warm
but your better off not in the storm
so go, leave
go be free
and learn to fly again
while I stay here
and pretend
that the sky above is down below
that higher and higher I go
until I am
up above the world
I've lived my life
now let me go
let me run and jump and fly once more
yes I am sad
but more then that I'm glad
I'm finally free
and can finally be
up above the clouds once more.

  • The Boxes In The Corner

    Looming over your shoulders

Each stack higher than its former

    Every thought and every scrap

Of an idea too scared to ponder

    Every moment that hurt

    Each minute that lingered longer

  • Inadequacy

How do I push the words out
    From behind my taffy tongue
    Thick with salty tears
    And full of grubby thumb

    I’m a child
    Pretending that I’m numb
    To escape the overwhelming feelings

    Why

When feet fall soft but quick

    Does the hallway extend

And the hot breath of whoever’s behind me feel hotter

Why do I stay pressed to the wall

    Like a stubborn gruby sticker
