every sentence

I cant seem to write a poem
that's not filled with you
most would see the words
and take them to mean nothing but
the silly wrtings
of a lonely teen
but
what i see
when i look at my words
is your face
smiling back at me
when i said a joke
that wasnt that funny
and how you chase after me
to catch up
when i run away
from my feelings
each foot hitting the hard pavemnt
blowing away leaves
or stomping through snow
as the seasons change
you still learn to keep pace
with me
and when we're tired
our breath eluding capture
we sit upon a bench
and you put your head
on my shoulder
every poem
every paragraph
every little sentance
is overflowing
with my love for you
and my hope
that you love me back.

    Looming over your shoulders

Each stack higher than its former

    Every thought and every scrap

Of an idea too scared to ponder

    Each minute that lingered longer

How do I push the words out
    From behind my taffy tongue
    Thick with salty tears
    And full of grubby thumb

    I’m a child
    Pretending that I’m numb
    To escape the overwhelming feelings

    Why

When feet fall soft but quick

    Does the hallway extend

And the hot breath of whoever’s behind me feel hotter

Why do I stay pressed to the wall

    Like a stubborn gruby sticker
