Field

The dark clouds rolled
Letting a sliver of sunlight in
Creating a gold illusion

The oak tree in the distance
Watching over the field
Standing strong and bold

The green grass glowed
Illuminated by the sun
Stretching for as far as the eye can see

  • Smile

    it stretches my face apart

    not unlike the plates

we learn about in science class.

    pulling at my jaw,

    cheeks,

    lips,

    until finally

    my whole demeanor

"We ignite not in the light, but in lack thereof,

For it is in loss that we truly learn to love."*

    When we can feel,

All that is no longer there,

  • Halls

    the doors

    are left open

    for him

    to walk through

    and brightly lit

    with all

    he will ever need

    when beside him

    there is a girl

    stumbling through

    a dark hall

    unable to find her way
