When I step outside,
there are so many things I notice,
so many things I see.
Green,
blue,
colors I can’t even name.
But every time
my eyes gaze upon this beautiful world,
I spot the shadows,
the figures,
emerging from the foggy horizon.
Tall,
wondrous peaks,
sometimes topped with elegant snow,
drifting slowly downward,
like sweet,
sweet chocolate.
They seem so far away,
while at other moments,
so close,
so familiar.
They are our protectors,
our angels.
They engrave our sky,
our minds,
our hearts,
and we can’t imagine life without them.
And,
as I watch them from one minute to the next,
I realize something.
I feel that they are worth protecting too.
there are so many things I notice,
so many things I see.
Green,
blue,
colors I can’t even name.
But every time
my eyes gaze upon this beautiful world,
I spot the shadows,
the figures,
emerging from the foggy horizon.
Tall,
