Freedom

Freedom is a thing

Written into the amendments

Into our hearts

Something we are promised

But promises break

And America's promise

Was never fully whole

It was always broken

Freedom is not

Controlling women's bodies

Freedom is not

Sexism

And yet we are the land

Of the free

But here we are

Women fighting for

The very right

To have control

Over

Their

OWN

Bodies

Your mother's

Daughters

Sisters

Nieces

Have never truly

Gotten to live the American

Promise

Every four years

It is once again

Renewed

And almost every time

It is broken

Maybe this year will be different
