I wish they knew

How hard we try

When every day is like dying and dying and dying until you hit the pillow and die some more and the numbers on the screen define your future and no matter how hard you work you cannot raise them so you cry. so you cry because this world was never meant to hold this much emotion in one child and you are seen but never understood and you used to be so gifted until junior high hit like a brick wall and now you have fallen off the curve. and you begin to wonder why you are falling instead of flying so you work and you work and you work and you die and you die and you die and you hate yourself for not being able to do simple things yet you know that you had potential at some point because you were gifted. because you were the kid everyone looked to for homework answers until they realized you will never truly be theirs to use for benefit. you were the kid with the highest scores on the standardized tests. you were the kid everyone knew would go on to do great things until you crashed in high school because you were never taught how to be gifted. you were never told that you do not have to be gifted. you do not have to be perfect. you do not have to get some fancy college degree. you do not have to help the kid who’s failing because they’re not trying. you do not have to be gifted. you only have to be you and if that is not enough for those around you then leave them. but you were never taught this so you are forced into this perfect box of gifted children who are now in high school and dying because they kill themselves every day trying so hard to fit into a world that cannot handle them unless their talent is used for the benefit of others so you wake up in the morning and you die and you die and you die until you hit the pillow and die some more because no one knows how hard you have tried just to survive.
