A Glimmer Of Color In A Black And White World

My world is in black and white.  Literally.  My skin is gray, and my hair is black.  Everyone around me has gray skin too.  The same gray eyes.  The only thing in my world that isn't black ane white are the books.  But...  The books are technically still in the same color theme our whole world shares.
The books themselves are gray, white, and black, but the stories and knowledge they share is colorful.  The stories are filled with beautiful colors, and the research novels talk of a world that is colorful.   Sometimes, when I read, I can imagine what the worlds are like.  I often have to search the books to get and idea of what they look like, though.  Sometimes they describe a color called yellow as warmth, and when I think of warmth I see something  bright that glows.  Sometimes they describe blue as cool and refreshing.  Saddness is another way the books describe blue.  Red is angry.  Orange is frustrating.  Pink and purple are girly.  Green is silly or quirky.  Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to actually see these colors.  Would I be amazed?  Or would I be disappointed?  I want to know.
These words jumble around in my brain all night.  All through dinner, all through my homework.  They even find a way to snake they're way into my dreams.  When I wake up in the morning, I want to do something about these words, so I decide to try fulfill them.  "I'm going to the library," I call as I rush through the door.
"Be back by lunchtime,"  my mom calls back to me.  I smile.  Plenty of time.
When I walk through the library doors, and I head straight to the fairy tail section, because that's where I find the most 'colorful' books.  I start flipping through the novels, hoping to find a glimmer of color.  I don't.
It's just about lunch when I finally figure that I won't find anything.  However, when I start to get up, something catches my eye.  It has a thick spine and a small piece of ribbon sticks out from the top of it.  It looks warm.  It almost glows.  My mind races until I finally come to a realization.  The ribbon is yellow!  I sprint over and yank it off the shelf.  I wrench off the cover and find a disappointing black and white image of a fairy tail land.  I can't help but be disappointed.  I decide to read the book anyway.  I sit down on the floor with my back against the shelf.  I read the next few pages and I find another image.  But this time it's not black and white!  It's the most colorful thing I have ever seen!
I'm too busy celebrating to realize that the book has started to glow and hum.  A small tornado starts to whip around me and my feet begin to rise off the ground.  I close my eyes, not knowing what will happen.  When I feel my feet brush the ground again, I open my eyes. I can't believe it.  The world I am now in is in full color.  It is filled with yellows, reds, oranges, greens, blues, pinks, and purples.  I look down at my skin.  It looks warm.  But more importantly, it's not gray.
I did it.  I finally know.  I now know what the colors look like.
