Happily Ever After…

When I was young,

I loved fairytales.

I loved that no matter what,

There was always a happy ending.

But as I got older,

I realized something:

Happy endings don’t exist for everyone.

Everyone dies.

Some people die alone.

Some people die in pain.

Some people

—good people, bad people—

die slow, drawn out deaths that no one deserves.

Happily ever after doesn’t exist for everyone.

No matter how good you are in this life,

Happily ever after cannot always be achieved.

    Ya know

    Sometimes I don’t think

That things will ever get better

    Sometimes I don’t see

    How they really could

But I’m not always like that

    Sometimes I think

    “Maybe someday”

    “Maybe it will improve”

    Hello

    My name is Jaden

    I am fifteen

    And this is a poem

    About me

    About how I feel

    Being a teenager

    In 2025

    Distance

    Rain

    Endless nights

    With no end in sight
