hate

hate is like acid
eating away at your soul
making you bitter
and scared from sharp words
hate is invisible
until it's not
hiding under sickly sweet smiles
and seeping into your thoughts
hate is like poison
spreading through the veins of society
breaking families apart
not caring who's crying
hate is a fire
unkept and made wild
by the vengeful desires
of those wronged and hurt
by the same blaze
a viscous cycle
fueled by harmful ways
hate lingers inside
grudges become glorified
wrongs that were simple
made from ant to elephant
in one simple gesture
stop
listen up
that hatred you harbor
it only hurts others
makes them feel like you
is that what you want?
I thought not.
let it go.

    Looming over your shoulders

Each stack higher than its former

    Every thought and every scrap

Of an idea too scared to ponder

    Every moment that hurt

    Each minute that lingered longer

  • Inadequacy

How do I push the words out
    From behind my taffy tongue
    Thick with salty tears
    And full of grubby thumb

    I’m a child
    Pretending that I’m numb
    To escape the overwhelming feelings

    Why

When feet fall soft but quick

    Does the hallway extend

And the hot breath of whoever’s behind me feel hotter

Why do I stay pressed to the wall

    Like a stubborn gruby sticker
