Highway

Somewhere far away, just far enough away that you won’t find it, there is a highway that goes on forever.  Driving down that highway at 75 miles an hour, is a car that will never run out of gas. And by the passenger seat of that car, there is a window that you can look out of forever.

You sit with your cheek pressed against the window, gently warmed by the sunlight. The gentile vibrations and bumps of the car lull you into a state of partial consciousness. Cars pass you, and you pass cars. Your mouth never gets dry, and your back never gets sore.

One day, you will reach the end of forever. The car will stop, and you will get out, stretch your legs, and gaze at the end of forever. Then you will sit back down in the passenger seat, and the car will drive the other direction so you can, again, look out the window forever.
