I Don’t Want To Be An Old Soul

I don’t want to be an old soul.
I don’t want to be busy
Pushing my soul’s wheelchair around
While my friend’s are dancing
In the sun.
I don’t want to be an old soul.
Everything has an expiration date
Clocks are just a way to get closer to the time when you’re
Time is up.
I don’t want to be an old soul.
What if my body
Can never catch up and I spend my whole life
In a pointless relay race?
I don’t want to be an old soul. We’re always being told to ‘enjoy childhood while we can’.
What if my soul skipped straight to forty
And missed all the fun?
So thanks,
But no thanks, Buzzfeed.
I don’t want to be an old soul.
