I have this little balcony
On the second floor of my house
My big white house
With gold fixtures
In this town in sunny so cal
80 degrees in the winter
10 minutes walk to the beach
And 5 minutes drive to my tiny private school
Where girls wear tube tops all year round
And guys only own one pair of jeans and one pair of sweats amongst the 20 pairs of shorts and 20 designer hoodies
They don’t need anything more
Because I live in southern California
Where seeing a parakeet in the trees is less common than seeing a lady with a nose job or lip filler or botox on the street
I have this little balcony
With this big sliding door overlooking the ocean
The sunsets
The warm breeze
It's nice
But maybe I live in this bubble
The ones that never pop
So each time I look out my window
The big one overlooking the ocean
I see the things that I know as normal
While some people die of hunger a couple thousand miles away
And yet some people ask why I always close my curtains
Posted in response to the challenge Window.
