I Just Really Like You

Hand in hand we walked down the path, littered with colorful leaves. A gust of wind swirled the leaves around us. Encompassing us in our own little world. I looked up, the trees bent over us with shades of red, orange and yellow. Looking back down I saw your eyes searching my face. I turned to face you and you squeezed my hand. "What?" I asked.

"Nothing, I just really like you." I blushed and squeezed your hand back. We continue walking admiring the signs of autumn and continuously looking at each other. We ended up at a little cafe with pumpkins on the stoop and autumnal door decorations. We stepped inside and were welcomed with the cheerful sound of a bell and the sweet scent of pumpkin. You went straight up to the counter, said your order and to my surprise you said mine too. Turning back to me you smirked at my surprised face and winked making me burst out laughing. "Winking does not work for you," I told you attempting to frown which just added to my laughter.

"Order up," Yelled a voice from behind the counter. I pushed past you and stuck out my tongue with a smile on my face, eager to get my warm drink after spending time in the chilly air. You came up next to me and bumped me with your hip, a grin matching mine. I thanked you for the drinks and then we walked back outside, the cold wind blasting me in the face. I subconsciously leaned into you in order to stay warm. You responded by wrapping your arms around my waist and pulling me even closer. I looked up at you and made an effort to glare but once again I broke out in laughter. You chuckled but continued to hold me close.

We walked in a comfortable silence, our feet crunching on the leaves. You looked up and I looked at you, "What?" You asked.

"Nothing, I just really like you."

    From scrubbing the floors

    Cinderella

    From working with horrible people

    From helping little animals

  • The little leaf

    Every day

    At a 3

    I would walk home

    Taking the same path

    In fall I would admire

    The trees and colors

One evening I saw a tree

    With one little leaf

    It was bright red

    Standing out against

  • Each time

    Each time a leaf falls

    Another heart shatters

    Each time the wind blows

    Another break up

But each time a pumpkin is carved

    A date is planned

Each time a cider donut is devoured

    Another kiss
