If I Were Dreaming

If I were dreaming,

would the cold and snow still bite my face

in the winter

when I went skiing?

If I were dreaming,

would the heat of June-July-August-now-October-too(?)

still drench my body in sweat

and make me tired?

If I were dreaming,

would I know how much

I did not know?

If I were dreaming,

I think my subconscious wouldn't know

that perfect isn't perfect

and my dream-me would do things right.

I hope I'm not dreaming

(but what difference does it make?)

that everything was beautiful and nothing hurt

but if it did it would have been

    lying in the grass

the kind that surrounds you like the ocean

    and flows like a river

Raincoat like the petals of a sunflower hangs to her knees

    Glittery rainbow headband
