I'll Remember Us

I still

can't believe

you're leaving.

Gone

now

is the right word.

We haven't talked

in who knows

how long

but,

do you remember?

We used to be

best friends

in love like only kindergarteners

can be.

We used to

watch Star Wars

late into the night

(I never liked it

as much as you.)

We used to

compete at everything

from cliff-jumping

at our secret river

or ski races.

We used to

spill secrets

no one else knew.

We used to

watch fireworks

lying on the grass

together.

We used to

have

a million memories

flash into our heads

of each other.

Now,

those memories

have to be dragged

upstairs

from where they sat

in a dusty box

in the basement.

I promise

I'll always

remember you.

Even now

that you're gone

and couldn't care less

and don't think about us.

We

were

best

friends.

I'll never forget that.

  • On being brave

There are days when I fall asleep wondering about the line between stupid and brave.

    Brave

    Ready to fight

    For their passion

  • Trees Talk

    The trees talk,

    you know?

They talk and if you listened

    you would know,

    they whisper

    like kindergarteners

who can't stand straight in lines

    but they can jump straight
