it's the end of the world

whatever shoes i was given back then i could not possibly let go of.

it was unfathomable. it was an outrage

that the light-up ones, the purple sandals,

even the astronaut rainboots had to go. i wanted them,

Since I could eat, I have loved eating. Since I could open

my mouth and shriek for sustenance I have been in love with food.

And it has always loved me back -

tacos, grilled cheese, steak, sushi, matzo ball soup,
