The teacher asked a question. I knew the answer. I was sure of it. Of course nobody wanted to hear it from me, so I just kept my mouth shut. Like always. This was just how my day went. Something went wrong? No one wants to hear it. You did something cool? Who cares!? Whatever. I just held it in. That is, if holding it in means writing every single thing from your day in a journal to decompress. For example, this little paragraph here is currently being written in the school bathroom stall. I needed a break from being ignored. I needed a break from being shut out. I needed a break. So, I decided to write. Yes. I am writing in the bathroom. Whatever.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
Oops. Looks like I have to get back to class now.
Ooh! What's this!? Someone's diary??!
Wait. Who just wrote that? Why is my journal on the floor in front of my locker now? I thought I put it in my bag...
Hi! Your writing is really good!
This is getting weird. I know I put this in my bag. Is someone stealing from me?!
I wouldn't really call it stealing. Just borrowing your journal, writing in it, then putting it back! I'm only trying to be friends with you!
Huh. Do I know you?
Maybe. It depends on how you define knowing someone.
Do I know of you?
Probably. Also, check your bag. You can write in my journal if you want. Just put it back in your bag when you're done.
So, we're like pen pals now?
YAY! I've always wanted to know what it would be like to have someone to talk to!
Oh. Honestly, me too.
GREAT! I'm excited to get to know you! Now it's your turn to write in my journal!
