just like clockwork

the hands tick, signaling the passage of time

sunlight reflects off bronze,

the copper mechanisms illuminated

the Timekeeper works,

ensuring everyone hears a

Tick…

Tock…

while gazing up towards one luminary clock

the clock towers erupt from the earth,

cities built around them

spires reaching up like

the Tower of Babel

they keep time,

never to stop.

the hands of time

visible from every city block

maybe one day the clock’s ticking will stop

but until then,

all we’ll hear

is a “tock”
