lakeside metamorphosis

traversing mountains of expectations

bury me alive with talk of ill fate

closing doors to hide my lamentations

singing ballads of grief in my dream state

tolerating their well-meant sentiments

still trying to see their good intentions

sit quietly while they give their two cents

their pointless attempts to make connections

I discover the key to my handcuffs

in the glints of light shining below me

when I feel the waters start to get rough

I take a boat to where no one knows me

the gentle currents erode all my scars

alone in lakeside metamorphosis

transformative nights spent under the stars

taking in small joys so easy to miss
