The Law That Ruins Lives

I'm 13 years old

I have literally watched

States make it illegal

To get abortion

Most of the people

Making and signing

The laws

Are men

MEN

Last time I checked

Most of them

Would never need an abortion

Because

They

Are 

NOT

Women

So instead of

Focusing on important things

Like gun laws

They make laws

That stop women

From

Making

Choices

About

Their

OWN

Bodies

They make laws

Rules

Saying it is illegal

For a women

To have a say

In what happens

To their body

A woman's life

Could be at risk

But does that matter?

Apparently not

A women could barely

Be a women

At 16

Or younger

And yet

They could then have

The responsibility

Of carrying and raising a child

Men don't carry children

A women could be

Sexually abused

And be hurt

Have someone forced on them

And after all that

They still don't have a choice

They still have to carry a baby

Even when the thing in them

Is barely alive

Just a sesame seed

And yet

Women

Don't

Get

To

Decide

What

Happens

To

THEIR

Bodies

No matter how many times

I say it

It still sounds crazy

Because it is

Its like if I told

A man

What to do

With their body

If I told them

Not to

Go to the doctor

And get a surgery

That could save their life

Imagine someone

Saying that to a man

Imagine not being able

To get a surgery that could

Save your life

But worse

Obviously the men

Who write the laws

Don't have the capability to understand

Now imagine

A women

Not

Getting

To

Decide

What

Happens

To

HER

Body

You don't even have to imagine

Because that's the country we live in

A country

That allows states

To make laws

That could and do and ruin

A woman's life

The law

That ruins lives

Is what it should be called
