Love Is

Love is a gas station chain in the Midwest.

Love is little girls with Mary Janes spreading kisses around the playground.

Love is little boys who claim to hate them.

Love is the front seat of your friend's car.

Love is the hair ties and Chapstick stocked in the glove compartment.

Love is a motherly hug.

Love is her cheesy potatoes.

Love is when your dad tries to make them on Mother's Day and they never turn out quite right.

Love is time spent with friends.

Love is the ache that you get without them.

Love is not just hooking up.

Love is not what is always presented in tween girl magazines.

Love is not what is in movies.

Love is the fact that I am a mosaic of all the people I have ever come across.

Love is the feeling deep inside the core of my being.

Love is knowing I give that feeling out too much.

Love is learning to protect myself and protect my peace.

Love is that fact being taken advantage of.

Love is understanding that we are very different people.

Love is grappling with that.

Love is thinking that maybe we shouldn’t be together.

Love is tortoise shell glasses and jelly shoes for me.

Love is fluffy hair and ski boots for you.

Love is disco night.

Love is canceling plans.

Love is the butterflies that flutter inside and the blush that fills my cheeks when you are around.

Love is why you keep coming back to me.

Love is why I let you.

Love is lukewarm.

Love is steaming hot.

Love is what you're trying to avoid.

Love is what you know you are feeling.

Love is what you are trying to save yourself from.

Love is what you are slowly killing me with.
