Moral Reminder to Myself

No one looks like a villain once dead.

There is no threat in a lifeless body,

In screaming mothers and weeping daughters.

Once exposed, his blood is no longer posion.

Once tested, his humanity is no longer questioned.

No one looks like a villain for laughing.

But there is nothing funny about stringless puppets.

There is no empowerment in pure hatred.

Once exposed, we become worse than our enemies.

Once tested, our empathy is no longer unconditional.
