My Best Friend

He was always my favorite, out of all of them - It was barely a competition. He knew it too. Ever since the day that I met him, the day that he was born, we could never be separated. He was always by my side, growing up with me while we learnt our life lessons together. Wherever I went, he followed trotting along beside me. Dressed up in all of my winter clothes for building snowmen, or wearing my bathing suit and splashing into the pond, he followed me and did what he could do to help.

Eventually he stopped growing alongside me, reaching a plateau in his life. While I continued to grow big and strong and thrive in life, he started to grow old. He was no longer able to do the things I could, but that didn’t stop him from trying. I had to slow my steps for my old man to keep up, and when he couldn’t be there he was always supervising me. Watching me with his wise and careful eyes, making sure that I was always safe and nothing was going wrong. Though there was no more chasing squirrels and running through the snow, he could still live vicariously through my adventures.

My furry best friend, forever my favorite. One day I will no longer have his tail wagging behind me, or have him come running at the sound of the refrigerator door opening, but I will have cherished him all the same. Despite him not being in my life forever, he will always be my favorite furry companion.

  • Delight and Pain

    Friends are delight.

Someone to confide in and feel safe with.

They will listen to all your worries

And love you though you are not perfect.

They will always help you see the light
  • Starry home

I turn my head to the sky,

    While closing my eyes.

I drink in the moon’s soft glow

and let it dance across my face.

    Thousands of stars watched me

With my feet rooted in place.
  • My sixth sense

I want to be able to do something that people can only dream of. Most people would choose something common as a sixth sense, like sensing imminent danger, or sensing others' feelings, but I would take a different route.
