Nature

For years people worshiped Nature, she would help bring nutrients and food the the people. Nature would show her kindness through the wind whispering secrets, the water waving hello, the trees singing songs, the ground breathing and the sun smiling. This was all true until it wasn't. Until people started to turn on nature, mining out its nutrients, cutting down its trees, polluting the water, and digging into its core. Slowly nature lost her will to help the people. Nature turned on the people just like the people turned on her. She set fire to houses, flooded towns, swept away places with the wind, and struck cities with lighting. Nature only stopped when she heard a baby cry. Searching far and low she rumbled the ground, the building collapsed and the baby's cries grew louder. There, on top of all the rubble was the crying baby. Ever so slowly vines and roots picked the baby up and wrapped her in leaves. With the baby cradled in nature's grasp, she looked around. There was nothing left. The people were at a loss. They had no clue what to do, how were they going to survive without their day-to-day ‘necessities?’ The people blamed Nature for all that had happened, though they also realized they needed her, for without the earth where would people go? One by one the people thanked Nature for opening their eyes, and showing them that nothing was possible without her. All those buildings she destroyed, all came from her, all the water they needed to live, all came from her. The people were nothing without Nature. Just like nature is nothing without people. Who would worship her who would she have to take care of? Eventually, the people and Nature had a sort of understanding. Nature felt whole again, the ground craters were fixed, and the people felt hope. Nature rebuilt buildings with her lines, and tree roots, doused fires with her water, and brought the sea back to the sea. Eventually, everything felt right again. Nature was herself. She was a part of everything now, even the people like she always used to be.
