The NightSky

Author Bio: I love the Nightsky. It’s beautiful. There are so many analogies and stories and sights that all come with that one image or word of the night sky. So I decided to explore it and create the poem, NightSky. Enjoy!

The Nightsky

By: Shivali H. Patra

In the quiet realm, the night sky weaves

A tapestry of dreams and wishes.

Stars whisper in cosmic song.

In their celestial dance, they tell tales through time.

The night sky has meanings untold,

A tapestry, with a story to unfold.

The same tapestry, you explore

when your world’s pitch black and you’re lost.

The sky you glance at watching

a shooting star or fireworks

or Jupiter or the dazzling moon!

On a holiday or any Tuesday!

The night sky filled with happiness,

sadness, excitement, fear, and wonder.

The tapestry of the night sky unfolds its own stories,

Its own song to sing,

Its own dance to dance.

Life and stories are woven into the night sky.

Author's Note: This poem was actually inspired by Emily Dickinson's poem, "I'm Nobody! Who Are You?" I was experimenting with rhyming schemes, and then I read Emily Dickinson's poem.

  • I'm Here!

Context: There is a tiny mouse in the barn. He used to be a beloved pet to the farmer’s daughter, but she grew up and left. Soon, the mouse was forgotten about, yet each day, he came for a block of cheese, hoping someone would remember.
