one teen
in a world of dramatic movies
and overly exaggerated fairy tales
set their heart somewhere they know they shouldn't
opens it up
and leaves it vulnerable to the heartless whims of others
a while later
they gather what's left of their sanity
and tries to take their heart back
but it has a mind of its own now
and all it does is sit
and long for something it can't have
something it convinces them they need
and now all they do is sit
and long
they feel incapable of speaking up
they are unsure of how to say what they mean
they don't want to ruin a friendship
by saying three little words
but all they can think about clearly
are those big hazel eyes
that reminds them of a forest floor
on a late summer afternoon
and that smile, that could light a million light bulbs.
