Houses that are green are one step ahead
From the ivy that will destroy them some day.
I think that ivy is one of my most favorite things about life.
It destroys what is there, taking its spot,
A phantom pain in its forever-there roots,
Bonding to the concrete,
Tearing it apart.
It's a wonderful thing
That nature takes back what it owns,
Buries us in the ground that we live on
And feasts on our mortal bodies –
And all that is left is not even our own memories.

"And all that is left is not even our own memories." that last line especially when taken in conjunction with the first is really intriguing! Its definitely making me think. Is the "green paint" a memory of nature? Is the ivy reclaiming even that?
