"After time passes it'll hurt less"
But it never did
"Just forget it, it was so long ago"
But you told me always to remember
And each and every day
A little reminder in my eyes
A little piece of my past
Glows bright
Following me
Seeking me
As if I can't break away from it
And that is all that I am
And time has passed
Years have gone by
But that little piece of my past
Still stays bright
A piece of my past

What is left
[This is a reposted edited version of a previous poem of mine.]
when all we have is spent–
what will we have left?
people once before us– -
down the street
i walked down the street
the streets i once used to know
filled with regrets and heavy with burdens
of what once happened here
i walked down the street
a block or so down -
Dear god, am I real?
I believe in god even though I may know he doesn’t exist
I know the mountains were not formed by him
Instead it is the science in the world
The reason we are here in this moment

Yep. Something things remain in your brain until you go insane (okay, not actually insane, but it rhymes). And the pain from when your heart was slain leaves a stain (okay, yes, a bit aggressive, but it rhymes!).
But hey, it's okay. You're a lot more than your past anyway
