i ran under the outing by the bus stop,, the bus was late,, it was raining,, i was alone,, and i was cold.
"why did jackie have to do this to me..." i say as i rub my forearms. i sat down on the cold bench,, if the bus was going to be late,, it would be the best idea to sit down. i put my head in my damp hands. "this sucks..." i mumble to myself.
"hello!!" i hear an oddly happy voice speak. i lift my head out of my hands quickly to see a man,, twenty or so. "hi?" i say softly. i look around the setting with my eyes,, it was still rainy,, and it was starting to get foggy.
it was an awkward silence between us. "do you... need something..?" i say bluntly. the man sat down next to me and smiled. "i see you're sad." he says,, still happy. "you could say that." i say,, my voice still soft,, and seemingly growing softer. "will a story make it better?" he said. "a story?" i said,, cocking an eyebrow. "i'm not a kid." i said,, resting my arms on my lap. "but will it make it better?" he said,, tilting his head. "well,, it wouldn't make it worse." i said bluntly. i sat back as i listened to this man's story.
"once upon a time..." the man started. i rolled my eyes,, it was a childish start,, but i guess classic. "there was a girl,, quite pretty and kind... but this girl had a dark secret..." i tilt my head slightly. "no one knew her secret,, and she didn't even know it either." he said softly. "what?" i said. "how does she not know her secret?" i say softly,, intrigued. "shush!" he said quickly. he cleared his throat. "her secret was that she didn't know how to love." i tilt my head further. "how is that a secr-" i stopped myself. he smiled before he continued. "she fell in love with a boy,, but she didn't know if he loved her." he smiled as he looked ahead at the falling rain,, i followed his gaze and looked at the rain. "but she was wrong,, he asked her to go to dinner with him that night,, happily,, she agreed." he closed his eyes,, a smile remained on his face.
"but he didn't show up..." i look at him as my brows furrowed. i looked down at my damp hands. he looked at me. "she was wrong again..." we stayed silent again. "does that sound familiar?" he said soothingly. "yeah..." i said softly. "it does..." i said hoarsely.
"but you wanna know what she did?" he said happily. i looked up at him with puppy eyes. "what?" i said bluntly. he looked ahead and pointed. "she danced in the rain." i looked ahead. "danced... in the rain?" he nodded. "it made her happy..." we were silent for a moment once again. "you seem sad,, so how about you try it?" he said softly. we gazed into each others eyes before i smiled. "alright!" i said happily. i stood up and ran ahead into the rain,, i danced,, and i got soaked. but i didn't care. i was happy.
