remember?

remember when we were kids?

when nothing really mattered,

and we believed in unicorns and fae.

it seems so far away,

the days on where we laughed and played.

we cried only because of a 'booboo'.

do you remember those days?

do you remember when "staying clean" was soaking in the bath?

do you remember when the only protection we were aware of were helmets?

do you remember when the highest place we had been was on the swing or dad's shoulders?

do you remember when race issues were just "who ran the fastest"?

do you remember when you could wear a skirt without feeling self conscious and afraid to walk alone?

do you remember when you could look in the mirror and not hate what you see?

do you remember the only lines that were important to you were the pen lines on the doorframe signing away your height?

do you remember the most pain you felt was when you skinned your knee?

do you remember crying loudly so your parents could hear but now you cry silently?

do you remember?

you don't, do you?

maybe after reading this you do?

you remember everything.

as kids,

we couldn't wait to grow up.

but if i could go back,

i would tell my younger self,

growing up isn't what it's cut out to be.

  • No place better

    A better place, they whisper

yet, its your arms i long to embrace.

    they call it heaven,

    a place above,

better than the earth we love.

    if heavens better,

why does my heart ache for love i can't remake?

  • I am...

    I am great and tall,

    bushy and fast,

orange with swirls of yellow and white.

    I am a fox.

I run in the forest with my furry friends.

    my tail bouncing,

with a gleaming smile and long, straight flowing hair.

taking one good look at her you already know her story.
