scary new horizon

Next year, I am going to a new high school. Not the one in my town, where I know everyone, where I was destined to go since kindergarten.

I'm attending a high school two towns away, in a small town. Where I know almost no one.

Why? My family's not moving. I'm not facing some sort of social catastrophe here. So why am I leaving the school I've spent my entire life in? The people I've spent most of my time with?

Because I'm sick of it. I'm an outsider. Sure, I've been there just as long as anyone, but I don't fit in. I'm too nerdy, too loud, too impulsive. And I hate politics. Which really sets you aside in the capital.

So I'm leaving, because my grade is kind of mean. And because I want to get away from the glares of my exes, and the gossip of the school.

I'm sick of it.

So goodbye, school I grew up in.

Goodbye, friends, enemies, I'll miss you.

This is my time.

    Greek Tragedies

    oh Icarus, you poor thing.
fell in love with the sun, the sky-
    paid the price, i suppose.

why do we always pay the price for love?

    Where I Keep My Heart

In my attic I keep my heart.
I hold it there, safe amidst pillows, blankets and childhood stuffed animals.
When I make things, I break off a piece of my heart,
    and sew it into pillows,
