I asked my friend
For a poem idea
She said
Write a poem about sewer rats
So this is my poem about rats
Squeak
Squeak
Scurrying through the city
Deep beneath the bustle above
With their own tail to tell
I asked my friend
For a poem idea
She said
Write a poem about sewer rats
So this is my poem about rats
Squeak
Squeak
Scurrying through the city
Deep beneath the bustle above
With their own tail to tell
Splish
Splash
In comes the arrival of mud season
Soaking into the ground
Helping the plants just barely beneath the Earth
Drip
Drop
Precipitation sliding down the windows
As a child
she would sit alone
always watching the others
playing the day away
while she never had the confidence
