A Shimmering Creature

The first thing I saw were orbs of midnight blue, specks of white swirling in their depths like the night sky. Iridescent circles, layered one upon the other, surrounded the eyes. The scales flashed in the light, and their owner gets farther and farther away from me, seeming to drift towards the light blue sky and the beaming sun. Magnificently large wings, glimmering in the sunlight, beat up and down. Its color changes every few seconds, pink one moment, violet another, and pale blue the next. The wings still, and the creature gets closer to me, the air currents carrying it as it glides with minimal effort and lethal grace. The creature stops right in front of me, and all I can do is to stare, slack-jawed, at the massive creature before me. It lets out an earsplitting roar, and red-hot yet beautiful sparks shoot out from its mouth.

There was no denying what I saw. It was a dragon.

  • A Stranger Beneath the Leaves

I finger a rich, dark green leaf, dappled with sunlight. Running my fingers over the rough bark of an oak tree, I lift my head towards the sunlight. The sun warms me down to my toes, and I scoop up handfuls of dirt.

  • Who Are You?

The harsh, cruel blue light of the moon shone over my face. I once saw it as beautiful and gentle, but I don’t anymore. My hair had countless pins and hairclips in it, so many that it was almost a half of my hair.

  • Somebody I Thought I Knew

The wind whipped her hood, and I saw a glimpse of her onyx eyes and gently pink lips. She turned towards me, holding her dark black cloak together. Those eyes were so familiar, yet I couldn't place them.
