Spray-Tanned

Why did you have to hurt us?

Again?

Again?

‘Cause when I was young

there was a chance

a chance

to be free

a chance to see a woman be

something new and

different

what you told me is that she

shall always lose in the end

to the blade of a rich white man

spray-tanned

And how could this happen again?

Plagued with the sick

of the rich

They always wanted

more and more

Saved less for the poor

And I bet there was another girl

just like me

who was so close to having a chance to see

history being made

new waters to wade

and instead what was made

was tragedy

I bet she saw a chance

a chance

to be free

a chance to see a woman be

something new and

different

and what you told her is that she

will never ever be

anything but

inferior, inferior

Inferior to the blade

the blade that had destroyed the waters we wade

the blade that had destroyed the paths that we made

It tells her

‘You are nothing’

Of course, we’ll smile and grin

let the others win

as we bleed out for trying to have been

something

something

Why have we climbed up this hill

so many times

just to have our will

die?

Oh,

it was killed

by

the blade of a rich white man

spray-tanned

  • Death and Taxes

    It‘s said there’s only

    two things

    certain in our lives

    death

    and

    taxes

How can we be certain of death

until the day we are dead?

How do we know that we’ll die

if we are not dead yet?

  • 11:11

    It’s alright

    It’s fine

    It’s 11:11

    the luckiest minute

    of my life

    So don’t waste it

Hold on for just a minute

    and remind

    yourself you are

    alright

    I have a plan

    I am

    I am

    I’m running so fast

    going nowhere

    just going

    forever

I won’t stop to catch my breath

I won’t stop for life or death

    I’ll keep going

    going
