Ticket

"Having a career isn't all that there is in life."

You think I don't know that?

I know it isn't.

But I also know

That this is my ticket into the real world

And I'm not going to blow it

For silly parties

Hangouts that no one enjoys

Get togethers getting me down

I'm not staying on the ground for you!

You can say you're proud of me

I don't care how proud you are

This isn't for you

And I'm not slowing down for you.

I know you mean well

But you just...gah

None of you get it

At all

This is my life now

This is serious stuff

I know if I want my dream I have to work for that ticket

That ticket to being myself in the world of adulthood

If I want my dream I have to earn that ticket

And I'm not selling it just because you all want

My attention.

    I thought I did.

    I wanted so badly

to be a character in my books

    and to feel longing

    to feel needing

    to feel love and to

    be loved

  • The thing is

    The thing is,

    I can't get over it.

    It sticks in my memory

    unforgettable

    and I want it

but I know it was just

    subconscious dreamland.

    It was old
