This Town Still Holds Me

I walk through empty streets that I don’t go through anymore.

The pool is already covered with a home, where a beautiful family will live. The neighbors still have their Christmas lights up.  Oh, how sweet the sun holds the pond in its arms, reflecting its warmth as if cradling a memory. Seeing the kids play in the field brings a smile to my face. Because I was there once too. I hope they find a sense of belonging that I will never have. I’m going to miss this little town. And everything it offers to give. The memories, friends I have made, and the streets we shared. I’m finally home, my body aches more than usual not from pain but from the tiredness I’ve carried out.
